Let’s dig deeper into the details of the piano:

Design :

The CP4, despite being a stage piano weighs only 17.5kg, thus is portable for a high-end stage piano. It somewhat comes in a retro design that simply reminds one of the vintage pianos of the 1970’s. The top surface of the piano is coated with a textured panel that adds a touch of class to it.

It comes with a sustain pedal that adds to the convenience. It comes with the blue backlit display that conveys parameters and functions smartly. Complementing it is a scroll wheel that allows for easy navigation.

Overall, all the features are well laid out and the design is simple and sleek.

Key Action :

The CP4 Stage uses Yamaha’s 88-key NW–GH (Natural Wood Graded Hammer) keyboard action. The Graded Hammer action means that the lower keys are a little heavier and the higher ones a bit lighter. It has one of the best keybed action.

The Yamaha CP4 is unusual in having wooden keys covered in synthetic ivory, which is much better than any plastic-keyed pianos.

There are 341 voices in total in the CP4 and these focus heavily on keyboards. The keyboard can be split and layered which divides the keyboard into two and makes it easy to balance the volumes of the two.

The best part about Yamaha CP4 is that it responds well to all the different playing styles, a feature that is rare to find. The front panel is comparatively simpler, which makes it easy to control the functioning of the piano.

Additional features :

In addition to headphone and 1/4″ stereo outputs, the CP4 includes balanced XLR outs. Each Performance can have three internal sounds (Main, Split, and Layer) as well as address four zones from external sound sources. But this doesn’t imply that you need to play all the sounds at once. The Main sound always stays active, while the Split and Layer sounds can be set to off.

Various reverb and chorus effects, including the 62 VCM effects (Virtual Circuit Modeling) along with a Master Compressor, a five-band master EQ, and an onboard metronome are features that add to the functionality of the piano.

However, for any insights or problems, you can always refer to the software menu to make more detailed changes to effects.
